The day

Ceremony under a covered patio, dried florals and pampas on the arbor, groom in a cream suit. The recessional runs out through an open pavilion strung with bulbs while guests clap from wooden chairs. Then the light goes, the DJ pushes purple across the lawn, and most of the back half lives on a wood dance floor: the couple first, then other partners cut in. It ends quiet, the two of them on a leather couch indoors, hands together, veil pooled at her side.

How it was shot

Once the sun goes, the only key is a run of bistro bulbs and whatever the DJ throws. Purple LED is the hard part: it sits on skin, kills red, and turns a cream suit sour if you balance to the string light. So we split the difference, keep the warm on faces, let the purple live in the background where it belongs, and shoot wide open with enough shutter to hold each bulb as a point rather than a smear. The rest is fixed by hand.
