The day
White on white, top to bottom. The groom in a white suit, white brim hat and dark shades; the bride in lace with a cathedral veil that ran the length of the drive. Two lowriders, one black and one white, sat on gold wire wheels at the fountain turnaround under a row of very tall palms. The wedding party wore black. Portraits happened in full midday sun, then the whole thing moved indoors to a ballroom lit hard in teal.
How it was shot
Midday sun on a white suit and a white gown is the fastest way to lose a photo. We expose for the brightest part of the fabric and let the pavement fall where it wants, so the lace texture and the stitching on the hat survive. Black cars are the opposite problem, since the paint mirrors the whole sky. We move until the reflection lands on a palm tree instead of a blown highlight. The teal ballroom then gets graded by hand to bring skin back to normal.
