We keep the moments nobody planned

We started VowDeLune in Valencia, a little north of the Los Angeles sprawl, and we have spent the last four years driving every freeway in Southern California to reach the people getting married on the other end. Eight hundred weddings later, we still load the car the night before and still get quiet on the way there. Some of that is nerves. Most of it is respect. You only get one of these days, and we are the strangers you have trusted to keep it.

We do not think of the photograph and the film as two products. We think of them as the same memory told at two speeds. A still holds a single breath long enough to frame on a wall. A film gives you back the sound of a laugh you were too overwhelmed to hear the first time. Splitting those jobs between two studios who met that morning has never made sense to us. So our photographer and our filmmaker come from the same room, share the same plan, and answer to the same taste. Nothing about your day gets covered twice by people working around each other.

We arrive before you expect us, usually while the room is still half set and someone is steaming a dress in the corner. Early is where the good frames hide: the ring on the sill, your mother fixing your collar, the quiet before anyone performs for a lens. Then we spend the rest of the hours trying to disappear. The best compliment we get is that guests forgot we were there. We are not choreographers. We watch, we anticipate, we stay out of the vows.

The work does not end when we pack the bags. For weeks after, we sit with your files in a dark room, grading every frame by hand so the warmth in the room is the warmth on the screen. Color is memory. Get it wrong and a real evening starts to look like a stock photo. We would rather sit with it longer and hand you back exactly what it felt like to be standing there.
