The day
They dressed light: an ivory column dress with a high neck, a pale grey suit, a round brooch on the lapel. Most of the session ran through the arcade and courtyard of a civic building, then out into a rose garden where the blooms were coral and cream. Two frames were made straight down the middle of a spiral staircase with the two of them small at the bottom. One is color, one is black and white.
How it was shot
Stairwell frames take longer than they look. You are leaning over a rail a floor above, calling directions down a hole at people who cannot see what you see, moving them by inches until the dress fills the curve of the steps. Pale clothes against pale stone give you nothing to grab either, so I kept the light behind them in the arcade and let the arches and the shadow line do the separating instead of contrast in the clothes.
